The airport ceased aviation operations after its final airshow in June 2017. It was subsequently de-registered as an official aerodrome.
Economic reasons. The private owner sold the land to the real estate developer Nhood Poland (formerly Ceetrus Poland) for a large-scale commercial and residential development project, which was a more profitable use of the land.
The site of the former airport is currently an active construction zone for a major mixed-use development called 'Projekt Góraszka'. The project includes a large shopping center (Galeria Góraszka), extensive residential housing, and public utility/recreational spaces. The original runway and all aviation-related infrastructure have been completely removed to make way for the new urban district.
Góraszka was a prominent private General Aviation (GA) airfield, primarily famous for hosting the 'Międzynarodowy Piknik Lotniczy Góraszka' (International Aviation Picnic Góraszka) annually from 1996 to 2017. This event was one of Poland's largest and most popular airshows, attracting significant international participation and large crowds. The airport served as a base for light aircraft, ultralights, gliders, and recreational flying, playing a significant role in the post-communist era's private aviation scene in Poland.
There are zero prospects for reopening. The land has been permanently repurposed for urban development. The sale of the property and the ongoing large-scale construction project have irrevocably terminated its function as an airport.
