Circa 2017-2018. Analysis of historical satellite imagery shows a clearly maintained grass runway visible and operational through 2016. By 2018, the land was being plowed over, and by 2019, it was fully integrated into the surrounding agricultural fields with no visible trace of the runway.
Economic reasons and change of land use. The airstrip was a private grass strip located on agricultural land. The closure and subsequent plowing of the runway indicate that the owner ceased aviation operations and reverted the land to its primary agricultural purpose. This is a common fate for small, private airfields where the cost and effort of maintenance outweigh its utility for the owner.
The site is completely decommissioned and has been fully reclaimed for agricultural use. The coordinates now point to the middle of a cultivated farm field. There are no remaining physical traces of the runway, taxiways, or any aviation-related infrastructure. The land is indistinguishable from the surrounding farmland.
Rogów Airstrip was a small, private general aviation airfield. Its ICAO code, PL-0116, was an unofficial national identifier used in Polish aviation databases to track known landing sites, as it was not listed in the official register of civil aerodromes maintained by the Polish Civil Aviation Authority (ULC). The airstrip featured a single grass runway with an approximate orientation of 09/27 and a length of about 550-600 meters. It primarily served ultralight and light sport aircraft for recreational purposes. Its significance was local, serving its owner and potentially other local pilots. It had no significant infrastructure such as hangars, fuel services, or a terminal.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the Rogów Airstrip. The complete conversion of the site back to active farmland makes a future reactivation highly improbable. It would require a new owner to purchase the land, cease agricultural production, and invest significant resources to re-establish the runway and obtain the necessary permits, for which there is no current indication of interest.
