Approximately late 2010 to early 2011. The lease agreement for the land was officially terminated by the owner effective December 31, 2010, with flight operations ceasing around that time.
The closure was the result of a land lease dispute. The airfield was operated by the PoznaĆ Aeroclub (Aeroklub PoznaĆski) on land owned by a private agricultural company, Agro-Manieczki Sp. z o.o. The landowner decided to terminate the lease agreement, forcing the aeroclub to cease operations and vacate the property. The reason was purely related to land use and ownership, not due to economic failure of the airport's operations, an accident, or military conversion.
The site has been fully converted back to agricultural land. The former runway, taxiways, and apron areas have been plowed over and are now actively used for crop cultivation, seamlessly integrated with the surrounding fields. While the faint outline of the main runway is sometimes visible in satellite imagery depending on the season and crop patterns, all aviation infrastructure has been removed. The land is part of a large, operational farm.
Radzewice Airport was a significant hub for general and sport aviation in the Wielkopolska region. Its primary role was serving as the main base for the gliding section of the PoznaĆ Aeroclub. The airfield was equipped with a grass runway (approximately 800m x 100m) and handled a variety of operations including glider training using both winch and aero-tow launches, recreational flights with light aircraft (such as the PZL-104 Wilga), and pilot training. It was a registered civil airfield (lÄ dowisko) and played a vital role in the local aviation community by providing a dedicated space for air sports, relieving traffic from the larger PoznaĆ-Ćawica International Airport.
There are no known plans or realistic prospects for reopening Radzewice Airport. The land is privately owned and is being used for its primary agricultural purpose. The former operator, the PoznaĆ Aeroclub, has since consolidated its gliding and other operations at different airfields, mainly KÄ kolewo Airport (EPPG). Re-establishing an airport on the site would require the landowner's cooperation and significant investment to reverse the agricultural use, making it highly improbable.
