The airstrip likely ceased all active operations in the late 1990s or early 2000s. While an exact date is not documented in public records, analysis of historical satellite imagery shows the runway was intact but appeared disused by 2004. The definitive end of the airstrip occurred circa 2014, when construction began to redevelop the land into a residential subdivision.
The closure was a result of economic factors and land-use conversion. The airstrip's original purpose became obsolete over time. As the urban sprawl from Metro Manila expanded into the province of Bulacan, the land became significantly more valuable for residential development than for its limited aviation use. This led to the sale of the property and its subsequent redevelopment.
The site of the former Minuyan Airstrip has been completely and permanently redeveloped. It is now the location of the North Hills Subdivision, a residential housing community. The main road of the subdivision was constructed directly on the path of the former runway, and its long, straight alignment is the most prominent remnant of the airstrip's existence. The entire area is now occupied by houses, streets, and other residential infrastructure.
Minuyan Airstrip's primary historical significance is strongly tied to the construction and operation of the nearby Angat Dam, a major hydroelectric and water supply facility built between 1961 and 1967. The airstrip was almost certainly built to provide critical logistical support for this massive engineering project, facilitating the transport of personnel, high-value equipment, and emergency supplies to the then-remote area. After the dam's completion, it likely saw infrequent use by the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) and other government agencies for maintenance and administrative purposes before eventually falling into disuse. It would have handled light to medium general aviation and transport aircraft.
There are zero prospects for the airstrip to reopen. The land has been irrevocably converted to a high-density residential zone, and the original aviation infrastructure has been entirely removed and built over. Re-establishing an airport at this location is physically and legally impossible.
