As Koliganek is not connected to the state's road system, the airport functions as an essential lifeline, providing critical access for residents, mail, cargo, and medical services. It is the primary transportation hub connecting the village to regional centers and the outside world. Located approximately one nautical mile west of the village center, the airport is typically reached on foot or by all-terrain vehicle (ATV), as there are no paved roads, public transit, or taxi services available.
