Gorgan Airport (GBT/OING) is an international public airport located 6 km north of Gorgan, the capital of Golestan province, Iran, and 2 km west of the Gorgan-Aq Qala Highway. It is owned by the Government of Iran and operated by Iran Airports Company.
The airport officially opened in 2005, though the idea for its creation dates back to the 1970s. Initially serving domestic flights, it later gained international status, including charter flights for pilgrims. A significant modernization in 2017 included the opening of a new international terminal and the lengthening and strengthening of the runway to accommodate larger aircraft.
Gorgan Airport features a single passenger terminal that handles both domestic and international flights, simplifying navigation for passengers. The airport has one asphalt runway, designated 13/31, with a length of 3300 meters (10,826 ft). Its elevation is -7 meters (-22 ft) AMSL. Prior permission is required for landing.
In 2017, the airport handled 304,735 passengers. An expansion of the airport terminal is currently underway, with a new wing planned for international flights, extending 10,550 sq ft.
