A dedicated taxi rank is located directly outside the main terminal doors. The primary local operator is Gisborne Taxis. While taxis are usually available to meet arriving flights, pre-booking is recommended, especially for early or late travel.
Several major car rental companies operate service desks inside the terminal building, located near the baggage claim area. Options include Avis, Budget, Hertz, and Ezi Car Rental. It is highly advisable to book your vehicle in advance to ensure availability.
There is no direct public bus service that connects to the Gisborne Airport terminal. The most practical options for reaching Gisborne city centre and surrounding areas are by taxi or a pre-booked rental car.
Luckily (or maybe not) the rail transport is not that advanced and under utilised and you could wait all day to see a train!
If you zoom in on the satellite photo a bit, you can see that the Palmerston North-Gisborne railway line crosses the runway.
