El Táscate Airport

No official reason for the closure has been published. Given its nature as a small, private dirt airstrip (aeródromo) in a rural area, the most probable reason is economic. The private owner(s) likely ceased operations that required the airstrip (such as agricultural activities or private transport) and subsequently stopped maintaining it, leading to its abandonment.

The site is currently an abandoned and unmaintained airstrip. The physical outline of the dirt runway is still visible from satellite imagery, but it is overgrown with vegetation and is no longer serviceable for any type of aircraft. The land appears to be reverting to its natural state and is not being used for any other identifiable purpose.

El Táscate Airport was a minor, private airfield and held no major historical significance. Its function was purely utilitarian and local. When active, it operated as a general aviation facility with a single dirt runway (approximately 1,500 meters / 4,921 feet). Operations were likely limited to agricultural aviation (crop dusting for the surrounding farmland), private flights for the landowners or local businesses, and providing basic air access to a remote area. It had no passenger terminal, hangars, or public services.

There are no known plans, discussions, or prospects for reopening El Táscate Airport. As a small, privately-owned facility with no strategic or commercial importance, its reactivation would be entirely dependent on a new private interest and investment, which is considered highly unlikely.
