Circa 2010-2015. There was no single official closure date as for a commercial airport. The airstrip fell into disuse and was likely disabled during this period.
Military Intervention and Disuse. The primary reason for its closure was likely its disabling by Mexican military forces (SEDENA/SEMAR). During the 2010s, the Mexican government conducted numerous operations to destroy clandestine airstrips in southern Veracruz used for illicit drug trafficking. This remote airstrip fits the profile and location of those targeted for destruction. Secondary reasons include economic non-viability and lack of demand for official air services.
Abandoned and unusable. Satellite imagery shows the runway's outline is still visible but it is completely overgrown with vegetation and likely has ditches cut across it by military forces to render it permanently inoperable. The surrounding land has reverted to agricultural and pasture use.
The airstrip had no major national or commercial significance. It was a small, rural dirt/gravel runway approximately 1,200 meters long. When active, its operations were limited to general aviation for private landowners, agricultural aviation (crop dusting), and, as indicated by military actions in the region, illicit activities. It never handled scheduled commercial flights.
Effectively zero. There are no known plans, proposals, or economic incentives to rebuild or reopen the airstrip. Given its history of likely illicit use and subsequent military neutralization, it is highly improbable that it would ever be approved for official aviation use again.
