La Chulita Airport

Economic reasons and land redevelopment. The airport was located adjacent to the expanding Amistad Industrial Park. The land became more valuable for industrial and energy generation purposes. The subsequent construction of a large solar farm on and around the site sealed its fate as an airfield.

The site is completely abandoned as an airfield. The faint outline of the former runway is still visible on satellite imagery but is entirely overgrown and unusable. The land has been repurposed, and a significant portion of the area, including land immediately south and east of the former runway, is now occupied by the 'Parque Solar Coahuila', a large-scale solar power plant.

La Chulita was a small, private airstrip with a single unpaved (dirt/gravel) runway. Its identifier, MX-1854, is an unofficial code used in some databases, indicating it was not a public or government-controlled airport. Its operations were likely limited to private general aviation (serving local ranchers or business owners) and possibly agricultural aviation (crop dusting). It would have handled small, single-engine propeller aircraft capable of operating from short, unprepared surfaces. Its historical significance is minimal and purely local.

None. The prospect of reopening is effectively zero. The land has been permanently redeveloped with major energy and industrial infrastructure. Furthermore, the aviation needs of Ciudad Acuña are fully served by the Ciudad Acuña International Airport (IATA: ACN, ICAO: MMCC), a fully equipped public airport located approximately 10 km to the west, making a small, private strip like La Chulita redundant.
