Official airport taxis and shared shuttles (colectivos) are readily available upon exiting the terminals. Fares are typically fixed and can be pre-paid at kiosks inside the airport. While convenient, this is generally the most expensive option. Ride-sharing services like Uber can drop off at the airport, but pickups are often restricted to designated areas a short walk from the terminals.
Numerous major car rental companies operate at SJD, including Hertz, Avis, National, Alamo, and Thrifty. Desks are located inside the arrival halls, with shuttles provided to take you to the nearby car lots. Renting a car offers the most freedom to explore the Los Cabos area, and booking in advance is highly recommended, especially during peak season.
The most budget-friendly option is the 'Ruta del Desierto' public bus. This modern, air-conditioned bus runs along the main highway, connecting the airport to both San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. The bus stop is located on the highway, requiring a short walk from the terminal buildings. It is a safe and reliable service used by both locals and tourists.
