Ground Transportation
Taxis
Official, pre-paid taxis are available from a kiosk inside the arrivals terminal. You can choose between a private 'especial' taxi or a shared 'colectivo' van. This is the most convenient but also the most expensive option. For a cheaper fare, you can walk a short distance (about 200 meters) out of the airport grounds to the main highway (Carretera Costera) and hail a regular city taxi.
Rental Cars
Several car rental agencies, including Hertz, Alamo, and Europcar, have counters within the airport terminal. It is highly recommended to book your vehicle in advance, especially during peak tourist season, to secure better rates and availability. A valid driver's license and credit card are required, and purchasing mandatory Mexican liability insurance is essential.
Public Transportation
There is no formal public bus stop directly at the terminal. To access public transit, you must walk off the airport property to the main coastal highway (Carretera Costera 200). From there, you can flag down local 'colectivos' (shared pickup trucks with benches) or passing buses that travel towards the main town, Zicatela, and other beaches. This is the most economical option but can be difficult with large luggage.
