🇲🇽 Aeródromo Isla Guadalupe Airport

Aeródromo Isla Guadalupe (MMGD) is a small military airfield located on Isla Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico. Operated by the Mexican Navy (Secretaría de Marina - SEMAR), it is the westernmost airfield in Mexico.

The airfield features one asphalt runway, designated 05/23, measuring 1,202 meters (approximately 3,900 feet) in length and 28 meters in width. Situated at an elevation of approximately 590-597 meters (1,959 feet) above sea level, its coordinates are approximately 29°01′25″N 118°16′20″W.

This facility primarily serves military logistics, transporting personnel, equipment, food, and fishing products for the Mexican Navy, the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), and local fishing cooperatives. It also acts as a crucial access point for researchers and tourists visiting the island for activities like diving with great white sharks. The Mexican Navy conducts luggage inspections for biosecurity to prevent the introduction of invasive species. Historically, a former, unpaved airstrip was located nearby, and there are accounts of past aircraft incidents on or near the current runway.
