Islas Del Cisne Airport serves Del Cisne Island, HN.
Islas Del Cisne Airport (MHIC) is a small airport or airfield located on Great Swan Island (Isla Grande del Cisne), part of the remote Swan Islands (Islas del Cisne) in Honduras. Situated in the Caribbean Sea, it is approximately 180 kilometers (110 miles) north of the Honduran mainland. The airport (MHIC) features one gravel runway designated 6/24, with reported lengths varying between 1,880 meters (6,168 feet) and 4,671 feet (approximately 1,424 meters), and an elevation of about 7 to 37 feet above mean sea level.
This facility operates as a civil airport and is maintained by a small Honduran naval garrison, primarily supporting military logistics and occasional scientific access. While technically "Open to the Public," there are no developed civilian amenities, and it does not offer scheduled commercial services. Historically, the Swan Islands, where the airport is located, served as a pirate refuge and were subject to a territorial dispute between the United States and Honduras, which was resolved in 1972 with the U.S. relinquishing its claim. The islands also hosted Radio Swan in the early 1960s and a U.S. Weather Bureau hurricane station. In 1991, the Honduran government designated the Islas del Cisne as a protected area.
