La Libertad Airport serves La Libertad, GT.
La Libertad Airport (MGLL) is a small public airport located approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) southwest of the town of La Libertad in the Petén Department, Guatemala. It is situated at an elevation of around 185-190 meters (607-623 feet) above mean sea level.
The airport features a single runway, oriented 04/22, which is reported to have a soft or unpaved surface suitable for light aircraft. Its length is approximately 1,170 meters (3,839 feet). Operations at MGLL rely on visual flight rules, as the facility operates without instrument procedures. The Tikal VOR-DME (TIK) is located 18.2 nautical miles (33.7 km) northeast of the airport.
Historically, the airport has served local communities and supported activities such as oil extraction operations in the nearby Xan field, which ceased in August 2025. The Xan field area is now being converted into a base for military and law enforcement operations to protect the Maya Biosphere Reserve. Additionally, as a minor airstrip in a biodiverse region, it facilitates access for archaeological sites and ecotourism.
