Many airports offer bus or train connections to nearby city centers.
Kamenica nad Cirochow airport has just played host to the 12th FAI European Microlight Championships. Although very much a local provincial airfield it is set in a lovely area of Slovakia only 70+km south of the Polish and 35km west of the Ukrainian borders and just 8km to the east of the town of Humenne.
The airfields facilities are pretty basic but would provide a visiting pilot with most of their needs and requirements. The runway (07/25) is grass as are the taxi ways. Although in generally good condition they are both slightly uneven and bumpy and particularly rock hard in the summer! There is fuel available on site and a small bar/café as well as toilets and some bunk rooms (available by prior arrangements).
The village of Kamenica is of a reasonable size and boast a couple of small shops, a couple of bars a pretty reasonable restaurant and a great little ice cream kiosk as well as a take away pizza parlour....what more could you want.
If you are in the area take time to visit this little airfield and while there introduce yourself to the owner of the field Arnost Foff, you won't regret it!
