Medernach / Kitzebour Ultralight Airfield (LU-0002) was a closed ultralight airfield located in Medernach, Luxembourg. It was also known by the ICAO code ELMD. The airfield served as the national aerodrome for ultralight aviation and was occupied by "Aeroplume Luxembourg" since 1987.
The airfield closed due to a dispute between the farmer who owned the land and the tenant, "Aeroplume Luxembourg". The lease was terminated on June 1, 2015, and in July 2015, the owner plowed the 250-meter grass runway, rendering it unusable. By 2016, the runway and the main hangar had disappeared, and there is now no trace of the former airfield.

Approximately 2012. While an exact date is not officially recorded, aviation communities and historical satellite imagery confirm that operations ceased around this time. By 2013-2014, all aviation infrastructure, including the clubhouse and any hangars, had been removed from the site.
The closure was due to issues with land use rights. The operating entity, the 'Club Aéronautique ULM Medernach' (CAUM), reportedly had a disagreement with the landowner or was unable to renew the lease for the property, forcing the club to cease operations and vacate the site.
The site has been completely decommissioned and returned to its previous state. Satellite imagery shows that the grass runway is no longer maintained and has been fully integrated back into the surrounding agricultural land, appearing as a simple field. There are no remaining buildings, markings, or any other signs of the former airfield.
Medernach / Kitzebour was a pioneering and significant airfield for the ultralight aviation community in Luxembourg. Established in the 1980s, it was one of the first and, for a long time, the primary dedicated ultralight airfield in the country. It served as the home base for the 'Club Aéronautique ULM Medernach' (CAUM). The airfield was exclusively used for recreational flying, ultralight pilot training, and served as a social hub for light aviation enthusiasts. Its operations consisted entirely of private, non-commercial flights by ultralight aircraft.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airfield at its original location. The land is privately owned and is now used for agriculture. The club that operated from Medernach (CAUM) has since relocated its activities to other airfields in Luxembourg, such as Useldange Airfield (ELUS). Therefore, the reopening of Medernach is considered highly unlikely.
