Ecuvillens Airfield primarily serves training activities and powered flights, and also offers opportunities for scenic flights and parachute jumps, with strong parachuting activity observed in the summer. It is open to the public for general aviation use.
Historically, the airfield's development was initiated by Beda Hefti, the first president of the Fribourg Aviation Club, with the first aircraft landing around 1949 on a grass runway. The existing 800-meter asphalt runway was constructed between 1986 and 1987. In 2014, the aerodrome received an ICAO certificate, confirming its adherence to international safety and operational standards.
