Boboc Air Base (LRBO) is a significant military aviation facility located in Boboc, Buzău County, Romania. It serves as the primary training base for the Romanian Air Force.

Type of Facility and Operations: Boboc Air Base is officially known as the Air Force Application School "Aurel Vlaicu" (Școala de Aplicație pentru Forțele Aeriene "Aurel Vlaicu"). It is the main training facility for the Romanian Air Force's air force, surface-to-air missile, and radiolocation branches. Flight training operations at the base utilize aircraft such as the YAK-52 (Romanian-built IAK-52) and the IAR-99 Șoim, which is used for advanced pilot instruction, as well as IAR 316 helicopters. Additionally, Bayraktar TB2 drones operated by the Romanian Land Forces are deployed at the base. The air base features both grass and concrete runways, with the main concrete runway (04/22) measuring 2,500 meters (8,202 feet) in length.

Notable Features or History: The airfield at Boboc became operational in 1939, although the institution's origins date back to the early 20th century. During World War II, the airfield was utilized by both the Royal Romanian Air Force and Luftwaffe units. In 1953, the "Aurel Vlaicu" Aviation Officers School was established, relocating to the Boboc airfield in 1958. The base is named in honor of Aurel Vlaicu, a pioneering Romanian aviation engineer and pilot. Throughout its history, Boboc Air Base has hosted various aerobatic demonstrations, flight training programs, and military exercises, often involving international collaboration, such as the "Blue Sky 2010" exercise and "Swift Response 21". In 2007, the runway infrastructure underwent modernization.
