🇦🇹 Friesach/Hirt Airfield

Friesach/Hirt Airfield (LOKH) is a small, private-use aerodrome located in Micheldorf, Carinthia, Austria, approximately 3 kilometers south-southeast of the town of Friesach. It operates without scheduled commercial service.

The airfield features a single grass runway, designated 17/35, which is 707 meters (2,320 feet) long and 30 meters wide. Situated at an elevation of 615-617 meters (2,019-2,024 feet) above mean sea level, its coordinates are 46°55'43"N 014°26'00"E.

Friesach/Hirt Airfield is operated by the Hirter Flugsportclub and is primarily used for general aviation purposes, including training, glider towing, and recreational flights for engine-driven aircraft, gliders, and helicopters up to a maximum takeoff mass of 5,500 kg. All operations are conducted under visual flight rules (VFR) only, and prior permission from the club is required for access.

Historically, the current airfield was constructed starting in 1968 and opened on October 16, 1970. The Hirter Flugsportclub, which manages the facility, was founded in 1953. The airfield has also hosted significant events, including the Austrian State Championships in cross-country gliding in 1986.
