🇨🇿 Cheb Airfield

Cheb Airfield (ICAO: LKCB) is a small civilian airport located approximately 3 kilometers southeast of Cheb in the Karlovarský Region of the Czech Republic. It primarily serves general aviation and ultralight aircraft operations.

• Runways: The airfield has two parallel runways:
• A main grass runway (05/23) measuring 1,000 meters long by 25 meters wide.
• A concrete runway (06/24) measuring 1,000 meters long by 18 meters wide.
• Both runways have a strength accommodating aircraft up to a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of 5,700 kg with a tire pressure limit of 0.7 MPa, restricting usage to small propeller-driven planes and gliders.

It became the sole operational airfield in the Bohemian Crown lands on July 1, 1917, and after the creation of Czechoslovakia in 1918, it was the republic's only operational airfield. It hosted the Military Aviation Institute until 1934 and played a significant role in early military aviation training. The airfield has seen various military and civilian uses throughout its history, including being a Luftwaffe base during German occupation and later transitioning to full civilian management after the 1989 Velvet Revolution.
