Limnos International Airport "Hephaestus" (IATA: LXS, ICAO: LGLM) serves as the primary air gateway to the Greek island of Limnos in the northern Aegean Sea. As a joint-use facility, it accommodates both civilian and military air traffic, playing a crucial role in connecting the island to mainland Greece and, seasonally, to the rest of Europe. The airport is located approximately 22 kilometers east of Myrina, the island's capital and main port, making it a central point of arrival for visitors.

Major domestic routes connect Limnos with Athens and Thessaloniki, primarily operated by Aegean Airlines (and its subsidiary Olympic Air) and Sky Express. The airport consists of a single, modest terminal building designed to handle the region's passenger flow. Inside, travelers will find basic but functional facilities. Amenities include check-in desks, a baggage claim area, and car rental counters representing several international and local agencies. For refreshments and shopping, there is a small café-bar and a duty-free shop offering local products, souvenirs, and travel essentials. The services are straightforward, reflecting the airport's smaller scale.

For travelers, reaching Myrina or other destinations on the island from the airport is typically done by road. Taxis are readily available outside the terminal for the 25-30 minute journey to the capital. Renting a car is a popular and practical option for exploring Limnos, and it is advisable to pre-book a vehicle, especially during the peak summer months. A limited public bus service (KTEL) may also operate, with schedules often timed to coincide with flight arrivals, but travelers should verify timetables in advance. Due to the airport's compact size, check-in and security processes are generally efficient, but arriving 90 minutes before a domestic flight and two hours before an international flight is recommended during busy periods.
