Common Complaints

• Lack of Facilities: There are virtually no terminal facilities, amenities, or typical airport services like security or customs at the airfield itself.
• Rough Runway and Parking: The grass strip and parking areas are described as rough, bumpy, and sometimes with high grass and hidden obstacles, posing a risk to aircraft props and fairings.
• Absence of Staff/Security: Travelers have frequently reported that there is "nothing and nobody there" upon arrival, with no security present. This makes it unsuitable for overnight stays for aircraft without prior arrangements.
• Customs Requirement (International Flights): For international flights, a customs stop is required before and after to Hvar, which cannot be handled at LDSH itself. Hvar Airport is not an Airport of Entry.
• Challenging Ground Transportation: While taxis can be arranged, some travelers have reported attempts by local operators to "rip off" tourists with ridiculous taxi fares. Walking to nearby towns like Stari Grad is an option (around 30 minutes/3km), but bus or other connections require further travel from Stari Grad. Parking at the airfield is available for €10 per day.

Hvar Airfield (LDSH) offers a rustic and independent travel experience, best suited for private pilots or those seeking scenic flights rather than commercial air travel with standard airport amenities. Travelers should be prepared for a very basic facility and arrange ground transportation and customs clearance independently if flying internationally.
