Chan Gurney Municipal Airport (IATA: YKN, ICAO: KYKN) serves Yankton, US.

The Chan Gurney Municipal Airport (YKN) is a publicly owned, public-use airport located three miles north of Yankton, South Dakota. It is named after John Chandler Gurney, a Yankton native who served in the U.S. Army during World War I and later became a U.S. Senator. The airport was activated in December 1937 and is currently operational.

The airport covers 458 acres and has two runways:

  • Runway 13/31: 6,094 x 100 feet, concrete surface, high intensity edge lighting, precision instrument markings. It has a Medium-intensity Approach Lighting System with runway alignment indicator lights (MALSR) for Runway 31 and Runway End Identifier Lights (REIL) for Runway 13.
  • Runway 02/20: 3,380 x 60 feet, asphalt surface, medium intensity edge lighting, non-precision instrument markings. It features a 2-light PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicator) on the left for both runways.

The airport offers major airframe and engine repair services, as well as fuel (100LL and Jet-A), hangars, and tiedowns for transient storage. Other services include crop dusting, charter service, pilot instruction, aircraft rental, and sales. There is no control tower, but a lighted wind indicator and beacon are present. Migratory waterfowl are often on and in the vicinity of the airport.

Historically, the airport had commercial airline service from North Central, Republic, and AAA Airlines, with United Express discontinuing flights to Denver in April 2001.
