Cape May County Airport (IATA: WWD, ICAO: KWWD) serves Wildwood, US.
Cape May County Airport (KWWD/WWD) is a public-use airport situated in Lower Township, New Jersey, approximately 4 nautical miles northwest of downtown Wildwood. It is owned by the Delaware River and Bay Authority and primarily serves general aviation traffic.
The airport originated in 1941 as Naval Air Station Rio Grande, later renamed Naval Air Station Wildwood in 1943. After World War II, it transitioned to civilian control and became Cape May County Airport. A significant feature is Hangar #1, which now houses the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum. This museum focuses on World War II history and honors the airmen who died training at the base. The airport was also once the headquarters for US Overseas Airlines, a supplemental air carrier, from 1950 to 1964.
Currently, the airport spans 996 acres and has two asphalt runways: 1/19, which is 5,252 feet long, and 10/28, which is 5,000 feet long. In 2022, the airport recorded 40,075 aircraft operations, with the vast majority (99%) being general aviation. It operates without a control tower. FlightLevel Aviation serves as the fixed-base operator (FBO), and the Flight Deck Diner is also located on the premises.
