Circa 2011, with the official and final return of the land to South Korea completed in October 2019.
Military base closure. The heliport was an integral part of the U.S. Army's Camp Market. It was closed as part of the Yongsan Relocation Plan (YRP) and Land Partnership Plan (LPP), which involved the consolidation of U.S. forces in South Korea and the return of numerous military bases to the South Korean government.
The site of the former heliport is now part of the decommissioned Camp Market grounds, which have been fully returned to the city of Incheon. The entire area is undergoing a large-scale redevelopment project to transform it into a public park and cultural complex. This process includes extensive environmental remediation to clean up soil contamination from decades of military use. The physical helipad and all associated aviation infrastructure have been demolished and removed.
C 194 Heliport was a U.S. military heliport that served Camp Market (also known historically as ASCOM City), a major U.S. Army supply, maintenance, and logistics depot in South Korea for decades following the Korean War. The heliport was critical for the rapid transport of military personnel, high-ranking officials (VIPs), and essential cargo. It provided a vital air link between Camp Market and other key U.S. military installations across the peninsula, such as Yongsan Garrison in Seoul and Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek. Operations would have included standard U.S. Army utility helicopters of the time, including the UH-1 Iroquois and later the UH-60 Black Hawk.
There are no plans or prospects for reopening the heliport. The land has been permanently repurposed for civilian public use, and its original military function is obsolete. The ongoing transformation of the site into a public park and cultural center precludes any future aviation use.
