🇺🇸 Lawrence Municipal Airport

Lawrence Municipal Airport (KLWM/LWM) is a public-use airport located in North Andover, Massachusetts, owned by the City of Lawrence. It is situated in the Merrimack Valley and serves as a vital transportation resource, including being a reliever airport to Boston Logan International Airport.

Type of facility and operations: KLWM operates as a public-use airport with a control tower active from 0700 to 2200, and pilot-controlled lighting available at other times. It accommodates a full range of aircraft, from single and multi-engine planes to smaller jets and helicopters. The airport features two paved runways: Runway 05/23, which is 5,001 feet long and 100 feet wide with an Instrument Landing System (ILS), and Runway 14/32, which is 3,654 feet long and 100 feet wide. Services offered include fueling (Jet-A and 100LL Avgas), aircraft parking, hangar leasing, ground support, flight training, and aircraft maintenance through its Fixed-Base Operators (FBOs).

Notable features or history: Established in 1934 under the Civil Works Act, the airport was officially named in honor of Sergeant Richard F. Conlon on July 2, 1953. In its history, it hosted Northeast Airlines DC-3s from 1946 to 1965, including nonstop flights to New York LaGuardia between 1952 and 1960. The airport is also home to the Essex County Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol.
