Hertz Rent-A-Car operates a counter inside the airport terminal. Due to a limited fleet, it is essential to make a reservation well in advance of your trip to ensure a vehicle is available upon your arrival.
There is no fixed-route public bus service at the airport. However, Gogebic County Public Transit (GCT) offers an on-demand, shared-ride service. Passengers must call GCT in advance to schedule a pickup from the airport.
This has to be the best airport that I almost flew out of as a passenger. During the late 1980's, I had worked a week in Ironwood and our team was scheduled to leave at about noon for Detroit. Airport was closed, we drove to Marquette, flew to Green Bay, remainder of flight to Chicago was cancelled due to mechanical problems, rerouted to St. Paul, finally to Detroit about 14 hours later.
