The airport covers 276 acres and features one asphalt runway, designated 11/29, measuring 5,500 by 100 feet. It serves general aviation needs, including corporate, education, and private aviation, and acts as a base for the Civil Air Patrol. The airport is named after Indiana, Pennsylvania native and Hollywood actor Jimmy Stewart, who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. The current public facility was officially opened on September 3, 1951, after the county acquired the land in 1957. There is no scheduled commercial service.
