The airport features one primary paved runway, Runway 8/26, which is 4,197 to 4,200 feet long. The airport's elevation is approximately 3680 feet (1121 meters).
Historically, Fabens Airport was developed in the 1940s by a group of local farmers, known as the Fabens Flyers, primarily to support crop dusting operations for area farms. Today, it serves various general aviation activities including agricultural spraying, private business, and recreational flights. It has also been used by U.S. Customs, Border Patrol, and Texas Transportation Department aircraft. In a significant development, El Paso County and the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) entered an agreement in 2016 to establish an Aerospace Center test facility at the airport, aiming to transform it into a "premiere aerospace research and testing facility." The airport offers airframe and power plant repair services, as well as 100LL fuel.
