TSTC Waco Airport (KCNW/CNW) is a public-use airport located eight nautical miles northeast of Waco, Texas. It is owned and operated by Texas State Technical College and is notable for being the largest airport in the United States owned by an educational institution.

  • Known Uses: The facility functions as an industrial airpark for Texas State Technical College's aviation programs. It also sees general aviation and military aircraft operations. Extensive flight training occurs in Class D airspace.
  • Historical Significance: Opened on May 5, 1942, as Waco Army Air Field, it served as the headquarters of the Army Air Force Central Instructors' School during World War II. It was later reactivated as a pilot training base and named James Connally Air Force Base in honor of Colonel James T. Connally. The base closed in 1968 and was conveyed to the State of Texas. The site has also hosted various aircraft modification and integration companies, including General Dynamics, Chrysler Technologies Airborne Systems, Raytheon Aircraft Integration Systems, and L-3 Communications.
