🇺🇸 Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field

Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field (KBTL or BTL) is a public airport located approximately three miles west of Battle Creek, Michigan, and immediately south of Springfield, Michigan. Owned and operated by the City of Battle Creek, it is situated on a 1,260-acre site zoned for industrial use.

Type of Facility and Operations: The airport features an airport traffic control tower with hours from 0700-2300. It offers fuel (100LL and Jet-A+), hangars, tiedowns, and major airframe and powerplant services. The airport also provides bottled oxygen. In 2019, it was the 3rd busiest airport in Michigan and ranked 59th nationally among contract air traffic control towers based on aircraft operations.

Notable Features or History: KBTL is home to several unique tenants, including:

• Western Michigan University College of Aviation, the 3rd largest flight school in the United States.
• Duncan Aviation, which, combined with its sister facility in Lincoln, Nebraska, is the largest privately-owned aircraft re-manufacturing plant in North America.

Current Status: The airport is operational and open to the public. It has continuous attendance and a lighted wind indicator. There is an active construction notice at the airport. Voluntary noise abatement procedures are in effect. Pilots should be aware of deer and large birds in the vicinity of the airport, extensive pilot training within 25 nautical miles, and ongoing snow removal and mowing operations during their respective seasons.
