Car rental counters for major agencies like Avis, Budget, and Enterprise are located inside the main passenger terminal. It is highly recommended to make reservations in advance to ensure vehicle availability.
The St. Louis MetroLink light rail system connects to the airport via the Shiloh-Scott station. A complimentary shuttle bus transports passengers between the airport terminal and the MetroLink station. The light rail provides access to downtown St. Louis, St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL), and other locations throughout the region.
This airport is a join military-civilian facility in Illinois, but the civilian part (MidAmerica) was designed to server as a reliever for St-Louis (STL), just across the state line. However, it has never attracted any major airline service, and has been controversial as a result. The east runway (on the right of the image) is the one civilian one, maintained by St. Clair Co, IL., while the west runway is in the military base.
