Taxis are a primary mode of transportation on the island and are typically waiting at the airport to meet incoming flights. You can usually find a cab upon arrival or call one of the local companies for a pickup.
Car rentals are available from local, independent agencies rather than major national chains. Due to limited inventory, it is strongly recommended to make reservations well in advance, especially during the peak season. Moped and bicycle rentals are also extremely popular and widely available transportation options.
There is no public bus or train system on Block Island. The island's small size makes it easily navigable by taxi, rental car, moped, or bicycle.
One of my favorite places to visit. Single runway, approx 2500ft long. no fuel. limited parking. one mile downhill walk to town. great restaurants and shopping.
