KAGO primarily supports general aviation activities, including private pilots, local businesses, military use, and air taxi services. Available services include 24-hour self-serve 100LL and Jet A fuel, tiedowns, hangar leasing, and a passenger terminal. Flight training, aircraft rental, and aerial tours are also offered.
Historically, the airport, built with a hard-surface runway in 1953, offered airline passenger service by Trans-Texas Airways from 1953-54 until 1962. In June 2016, it was officially renamed Ralph C. Weiser Field to honor Ralph C. Weiser, a commissioner who significantly contributed to its improvements over four decades.
