A picturesque airport, to say the least! Didn't drop to pattern altitude until final. No problems taking off 25 on an August day in my cherokee 180, but I see your point...

I fly into 1A5 about 6 times per year from South Florida. Atl radar can keep you till 7000 below that you need clear skies there is no instrument appproach. Toccoa Toc is a great alternate with a GPS approach and is in the foothills of the mountains. Franklin has a very friendly staff and a real nice FBO. I suggest landing on RWY 25 and taking off on RWY 7. Fly Safe Brett Panter [email protected]
