Known operators included the United States Army, which initially established it as Forward Operating Base (FOB) Volturno in 2003, and subsequently the United States Marine Corps, which renamed it Camp Baharia in 2004. The base also provided filtered water to the Iraqi Army in the Fallujah Area of Operation.
Located approximately 15 kilometers west of Fallujah in Al Anbar Province, the site was previously a Ba'ath Party resort. Camp Baharia, also known as "Dreamland," was operational from 2003 until its closure around 2009.
