Cumbrae Helipad, GB.
The Cumbrae Helipad (GB-1305), also known as Millport Helipad, is a helicopter landing site located on the shore, 0.8 km southwest of Millport's center in North Ayrshire. It functions as an evacuation point for Great Cumbrae residents during medical emergencies. The helipad was built with a bequest from Effie and Walter Kerr of Millport and was opened on April 29, 2016.
The helipad is primarily used by the Scottish Ambulance Service, including air ambulances like the Airbus H145 helicopter (Helimed 5) and Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance, as well as HM Coastguard helicopters for urgent patient transfers to the mainland,. Incoming helicopters can remotely activate the landing lights. The Cumbrae Coastguard Rescue Team assists with operations, including providing portable lighting when the permanent lights are undergoing repair, to ensure 24/7 usability.
