🇿🇼 Binga Airport

Binga Airport (FVBI) is a small public-use airport located in Binga, Matabeleland North Province, Zimbabwe, primarily serving general aviation and local access needs in this rural area near Lake Kariba. It operates without scheduled commercial airline service.

The airport is situated approximately 3 km southwest of Binga town at coordinates 17°38′51″S 27°19′01″E, with an elevation of 1,950 feet (594 meters) above mean sea level. It features a single gravel-surfaced runway designated 07/25, measuring approximately 1,097 meters (3,608 feet) in length and 18 meters in width. The apron was expanded in 2024 to accommodate up to six light aircraft.

Binga Airport serves as a vital entry point for tourism, facilitating access for charter flights to fishing camps and houseboat charters on Lake Kariba, and supports regional connectivity and the Tonga community's access to remote areas. It can accommodate up to four planes daily. The airport has undergone refurbishment, including the rehabilitation of its runway by 2022, as part of efforts to integrate it into Zimbabwe's rural aviation network and support the growing eco-tourism in the region.
