Approximately January-February 2012. The heliport was decommissioned concurrently with the closure and relocation of the Hôpital Gilles de Corbeil, which it served. The hospital's services were fully transferred to the new Centre Hospitalier Sud Francilien (CHSF) facility by early 2012.
Relocation and replacement. The heliport became obsolete when the hospital it was attached to, the Hôpital Gilles de Corbeil, was permanently closed. All medical services were moved to a newly constructed, modern hospital campus (the Centre Hospitalier Sud Francilien) which was equipped with its own new, state-of-the-art heliport (ICAO: LFJI). The closure was not due to economic reasons or a specific incident, but was part of a planned healthcare infrastructure upgrade for the region.
The heliport and the entire former hospital complex no longer exist. Following the hospital's relocation, the old buildings were demolished (starting around 2015-2016). The site at the specified coordinates has been completely redeveloped into a new urban eco-district ('éco-quartier') featuring residential housing, a school group, public spaces, and other city amenities. The land has been entirely repurposed for residential and community use.
The Gilles de Corbeil Hospital Heliport (FR-0081) was a vital component of the emergency medical services for the Essonne department and the southern part of the Île-de-France region. Its primary and sole function was to support the hospital's emergency and critical care departments. It handled Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) flights, operated by agencies such as the SAMU (Service d'Aide Médicale Urgente) and Sécurité Civile. Helicopters used the heliport to rapidly transport critically injured patients from accident scenes and to facilitate urgent inter-hospital transfers, significantly reducing transport times for life-threatening cases.
Zero. There are absolutely no plans or prospects for reopening this heliport. Its physical infrastructure has been completely removed, the land has been redeveloped for an entirely different purpose, and its function has been permanently and effectively replaced by the modern heliport (ICAO: LFJI) at the new Centre Hospitalier Sud Francilien, located just a few kilometers away.
