Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto International Airport (IATA: NBJ, ICAO: FNBJ) serves Luanda (Ícolo e Bengo), AO.

Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto International Airport (FNBJ (NBJ)) is a new international airport located in Bom Jesus, Ícolo e Bengo Province, approximately 40 kilometers southeast of Luanda, Angola. Named after Angola's first president, Agostinho Neto, it is designed to replace the existing Quatro de Fevereiro Airport as the country's main international gateway.

Type of Facility and Operations: This civil airport is intended to be a major aviation hub for Africa, capable of handling 15 million passengers and 130,000 metric tons of cargo annually. It features a large passenger building divided into international and domestic zones and a dedicated cargo terminal. The airport is operated by Empresa Nacional de Exploração de Aeroportos e Navegação Aérea (ENANA) and serves as a hub for TAAG Angola Airlines.

Notable Features and History: Construction of the airport, largely financed by China, began in the mid-2000s and faced several delays. It is notable as the largest airport ever constructed by a Chinese enterprise outside of China. The facility boasts two parallel runways, measuring 4,000 meters and 3,800 meters, both capable of accommodating large aircraft, including the Airbus A380. A dedicated railway line connects the airport to Luanda's city center. The airport was officially inaugurated on November 10, 2023.

Current Status: Operations commenced in phases, with cargo flights beginning in November 2023 and domestic passenger flights in 2024. International passenger services started progressively, with TAAG Angola Airlines transferring its international hub services in October 2025. By early January 2026, the airport recorded an average of 19 daily flight departures. While the airport gradually assumes full operations, the older Quatro de Fevereiro Airport will continue to be used for non-commercial air services, maintenance, and training. As of December 2025, one of the two runways was in active use.
