Sitikkala Airstrip

Economic and land-use reasons. The local aviation club (Iitin Ilmailukerho) that operated the airstrip ceased its activities at the location. The land lease agreement with the private landowner was not renewed, and the owner chose to return the land to agricultural and forestry use.

The site is no longer an active airfield and has been fully converted back to private agricultural and forestry land. The former grass runway is overgrown, though its straight outline remains clearly visible in satellite imagery as a field strip. All aviation-related infrastructure, including the hangar and any markings, has been removed.

Sitikkala was a private general aviation airstrip established in the 1970s by the Iitti Aviation Club (Iitin Ilmailukerho). It featured an 800-meter grass runway (01/19) and a hangar. The airstrip was a hub for local recreational aviation, primarily supporting the club's gliding and powered aircraft operations in the Kymenlaakso region of Finland.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Sitikkala Airstrip. The land is privately owned and has been repurposed, and the original operating aviation club is no longer active at the site, making a return to aviation use highly unlikely.
