Taxis are available for hire directly outside the airport terminal. Companies like Auto Taxi and Bil Taxi operate from the airport. It is highly recommended to pre-book your taxi, especially for travel to destinations other than Tórshavn. The journey to the capital, Tórshavn, takes approximately 45-50 minutes.
Several car rental companies have desks inside the arrivals hall, including international brands like Avis, Hertz, and Sixt, as well as local providers such as 62°N and Unicar. Renting a car is a popular way to explore the islands. Booking in advance is strongly advised, particularly during the summer high season, as vehicle availability can be limited.
Public bus service is provided by Strandfaraskip Landsins. Route 300 connects Vágar Airport directly with the main bus terminal in the capital, Tórshavn. The bus stop is located just outside the terminal building. The journey takes approximately one hour, and the schedule is generally coordinated with flight arrivals and departures. Other local bus routes also serve the airport, connecting to nearby villages.
Interesting approach. Fly down the little fjord and then climb to land. Optical illusion that the runway is short since there is a jump mid fields.
The runway ends at a cliff which creates a little excitement at the end of a flight.
