The airfield was officially closed in late 2005. The last flight operations from the Måløv Ultralet Flyveklub took place in October 2005 before the club vacated the premises.
The closure was a direct result of urban development and land rezoning. The municipality, Ballerup Kommune, designated the land for a new residential housing project to accommodate the expansion of the Greater Copenhagen metropolitan area. The economic value of the land for housing far outweighed its use as a recreational airfield, leading to the termination of the airfield's lease and subsequent redevelopment.
The site has been completely transformed and is now a modern residential neighborhood. The development cleverly pays homage to its aviation history through its street names, which include 'Vingehusene' (The Wing Houses), 'Propelvej' (Propeller Road), and 'Flyverstien' (The Aviator's Path). There are no physical traces of the former runway, hangars, or any other airfield infrastructure remaining.
Måløv Ultralight Airfield was a key facility for the ultralight aviation community in eastern Denmark. Operated by the active Måløv Ultralet Flyveklub (Måløv Ultralight Flying Club), it served as a base for flight training, recreational flying, and social events for enthusiasts. The airfield consisted of a simple grass runway and modest hangar facilities, perfectly suited for the lightweight aircraft it served. Its significance lay in providing an accessible and dedicated space for this niche segment of general aviation close to the Danish capital.
There are zero prospects for reopening the airfield. The land has been permanently and irreversibly redeveloped for high-density residential use, making any return to aviation operations at this location impossible.
