🇳🇱 Woensdrecht Air Base

Woensdrecht Air Base (IATA: WOE, ICAO: EHWO) is a military airport located between the villages of Woensdrecht and Huijbergen, approximately 10 kilometers south of Bergen op Zoom in the Netherlands. It is operated by the Royal Netherlands Air and Space Force (RNLASF).

Type of facility and operations: Woensdrecht Air Base serves primarily as a training and logistical base for the RNLASF. It does not typically house combat units. The base is home to the Woensdrecht Logistics Centre (LCW), which handles logistics, maintenance, and supply for the entire Dutch Defence organization, including F-16s and helicopters. The RNLASF also conducts elementary flying training from Woensdrecht, mainly using Pilatus PC-7 aircraft. The base provides training and instruction courses for the RNLASF and includes the Military School (KMSL). Civilian users, such as Fokker Services, also utilize the base for aircraft maintenance.

Notable features or history: Founded in 1934 as a glider and training airfield, Woensdrecht was expanded during German occupation in World War II and used by the Luftwaffe. In 1983, it was designated to house Ground Launched Cruise Missiles with nuclear warheads for the U.S. Air Force, but these plans were halted by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. As of February 2026, taxiway B was converted into runway 07L/25R, and runway 07R/25L is expected to close by the end of the year.
