Chalgrove Airfield (EGLJ) is a private airfield located approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) north-northeast of Benson, in Oxfordshire, England.
The airfield was originally a military airfield opened in 1943 during the Second World War, used by both the Royal Air Force and the United States Army Air Forces (known as USAAF Station AAF-465) for combat reconnaissance, including operations related to D-Day.
Since 1946, it has been primarily leased and operated by the Martin-Baker Aircraft Company Ltd. for the research, development, and testing of ejection seats, a critical function for the UK's defense program. The airfield has three asphalt runways; however, runways 06/24 and 18/36 became unlicensed in 2012, with runway 13/31 being the primary one measuring 1,830 meters (6,004 feet). While it holds a CAA ordinary licence for public transport of passengers or flying instruction, it is not licensed for night use and operations involve fast jets, ground-based test rigs, and helicopters. In 2016, ownership of the site was transferred to Homes England with the intent for future housing redevelopment.
