Colonsay Airstrip (EGEY/CSA) is a small but essential airfield serving the remote Inner Hebridean island of Colonsay. Operated by Argyll and Bute Council, it provides a vital air link to the Scottish mainland, supporting the local community by facilitating tourism, business travel, and access for essential services. The current paved runway was officially opened in 2006, a significant development that greatly improved the island's transport infrastructure. Before its construction, Colonsay relied on a grass strip that was less reliable in poor weather and mainly used by air ambulances. The airstrip is located centrally on the island, approximately one mile west of Scalasaig, the main village and ferry port. Given Colonsay's compact size of roughly ten miles by two, access is straightforward. There is no scheduled public transport to or from the airstrip; travelers typically rely on the island's pre-booked taxi service or private arrangements for transport. For those travelling light, the walk to Scalasaig takes approximately 20-30 minutes.

Operations at Colonsay are exclusively domestic. The primary route is a Public Service Obligation (PSO) service connecting the island with Oban Airport (OBN) on the mainland. Flights are operated by Hebridean Air Services using small, nine-seater Britten-Norman Islander aircraft. Passenger volume is modest, typically numbering a few thousand people annually, which underscores the airstrip's function as a community service rather than a commercial transport hub.

Facilities are minimal and functional, reflecting the airstrip's small scale. A single, modest terminal building provides a basic waiting area and toilet facilities for passengers. There are no retail shops, cafes, or lounges. The building is generally unstaffed outside of scheduled flight arrival and departure times, when ground crew are present to manage the aircraft.

Pre-booking onward transport is essential. Passengers should also strictly adhere to the airline's baggage allowance, as space and weight are very limited on the small aircraft.
