Dirkou Airport (DRZD) is a small airport serving the isolated Saharan outpost of Dirkou, Niger. It is located 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) southwest of the city center. The airport has a single asphalt runway, measuring approximately 1,599 meters (5,249 ft) in length. It is recognized as an operational airport, and aviation service providers offer ground handling services (including ramp handling, ground equipment, passenger, cargo, and baggage services, customs and immigration services, catering, flight crew assistance, and transportation), aviation fuel (Jet A1, AVGAS), and flight permit assistance. However, it is not listed as an Airport of Entry, and customs services may not be readily available. Due to the lack of recent firsthand traveler accounts, there is no information regarding terminal facilities, amenities, cleanliness, security wait times, customs/immigration experience, transportation connections, or parking from a passenger's perspective. The airport has seen extensive expansion, notably in early 2018, related to the construction of a base for Central Intelligence Agency drone operations, which included a paved runway twice the length of the original and new buildings with increased security.
