🇳🇬 Port Harcourt City Airport / Port Harcourt Air Force Base

Port Harcourt City Airport / Port Harcourt Air Force Base (DNPM (PHG)) is a joint civil and military airport located in Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. It serves primarily as a key operational hub for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), established to bolster Nigeria's air defense capabilities and provide air support for military and humanitarian operations. The base is strategically important for surveillance, reconnaissance, and maritime operations, including coastal surveillance and anti-piracy missions, due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.

The airport features one asphalt runway, designated 04/22 (or 4/26), measuring 6,923 feet (2,110 meters) in length and 98 feet in width. Its coordinates are approximately 4.8461°N, 7.0214°E, situated about 5 kilometers east of the city.

Historically, the airport gained temporary popularity for commercial flights when Port Harcourt International Airport was closed for repairs. However, most airlines abandoned the base after the international airport reopened, though it still handles some domestic flight services as it is closer to the city center. The facility also hosts two schools: Air Force Secondary School and Air Force Primary School.
