Approximately 2013. The final decision and planning for redevelopment occurred in the years leading up to 2013, with construction on the new industrial zone beginning around that time, marking the definitive end of aviation activities.
The closure was due to economic and urban development reasons. The land occupied by the airstrip, which was owned by the city of Litoměřice, was sold and repurposed for the construction of the 'Litoměřice-Sever' (Litoměřice-North) industrial and commercial zone. This development was seen as a more economically beneficial use of the land for the city.
The site of the former airstrip has been completely and irreversibly redeveloped. It is now the 'Průmyslová zóna Litoměřice-Sever' (Industrial Zone Litoměřice-North). The runways, taxiways, and airfield infrastructure have been entirely removed and replaced with large industrial buildings, warehouses, new roads, and parking lots. Companies operating in sectors like manufacturing, logistics, and retail (e.g., Hennlich, Travel Free) are now located on the former airport grounds. Satellite imagery clearly shows no trace of the original runway.
Litoměřice Airstrip was a public domestic VFR (Visual Flight Rules) airfield primarily serving the general aviation and ultralight (UL) communities. It was not a major commercial or military airport. Its main significance was as a local hub for sports and recreational flying. It was home to the local aeroclub (Aeroklub Litoměřice) and was used for pilot training, private flights, and as a base for aviation enthusiasts in the region. The airfield featured a grass runway (approximately 750 meters long) and basic hangar facilities.
There are zero plans or prospects for reopening the airstrip at its original location. The land has been permanently converted for industrial use, and the physical infrastructure of the airport no longer exists. The redevelopment is comprehensive, making any future aviation use of this specific site impossible.
